My paintings examine the relationship between humanity's primordial drives and the artificial environments it constructs around itself. Combining ordered geometric structures with fluid, expressive figures, I create ambiguous scenes in which bodies, objects and architectural space become entangled. Working with archival ink, acrylic and emulsion paint, I use a colour language drawn from the familiarity of domestic interiors to explore the tensions between instinct and control, presence and absence, and the physical and psychological spaces we inhabit.
